Peter Parker | The Amazing Spider-Man

Those first few meetings had been awkward, with the both of them stumbling and tripping over each other. It had gotten better though, mostly because, in Ava's opinion, Peter was amazing. They were friends now and she could almost always slip away from SHIELD headquarters if she told them she was meeting Peter. In any case, it was always true.
Today, it's Chinese food in Chinatown, a place that she's never actually been despite having lived the bigger part of her life in New York City, or not far outside of it.

Peter hadn't been too sure what to think when Tony announced they had found him a friend, he was admittedly pretty socially awkward but he didn't need the Avengers to find him a friend, and while there had been talk of it being 'helpful' and 'necessary' and a 'good influence', he wasn't exactly sure whether he was supposed to be the good influence or she was. Whatever worries he'd had, they hadn't hung around for long - as soon as they met he was too busy being awkward around the pretty girl instead, and he honestly had no idea how it had worked out that she seemed to actually enjoy his company but eventually even that awkardness subsided and he found himself with a very good friend.
He's hanging around a streetcorner waiting for her to show up and resisting the urge to literally start climbing the walls. He's half-bouncing on his heels in excitement because he can't believe she's never been to Chinatown and this was going to be so cool, he is definitely looking forward to showing her a whole new world... of Chinese food. Maybe he should be making Mulan references. Or no disney references at all, that was probably good too.

and developed a crush. She'd be amused at the literal climbing of the walls. She'd also be envious because she is reasonably proficient at parkour, but climbing walls is something that she's never going to be able to do. She'd really only gotten to see Brooklyn and very little beyond that. She's practically bouncing as well as she emerges from the subway in a pair of jeans and a tee shirt, looking forward to seeing that whole new world. A smile bursts across her face when she sees Peter and she breaks into a jog, slowing a little. Hit her with the Disney references, Peter. She's seen just about every Disney movie made because that was an approved activity for her.
"Hey. Hi," she says, voice barely containing all the excitement she feels.

"Hey!" Peter perked up as soon as he saw her coming, if it was possible for him to perk up even more. At least with her being here he had something to channel that excess energy into, even if it did take the form of him giving her an excited little wave and half walking towards her, before realising that they had to go back the way he had come from and stopping to wait for her to catch up.
"How are you? You ready for this?" he spun on his heel and gave a little flourish towards their destination. "You want to take a look around first or go straight for dinner?"
no subject
"I'm really good," she tells him, almost as if she's exhaling a breath once she finally reaches him. "You? And yes. I'm so ready for this." She looks up toward the entrance to Chinatown then back to him. "Can we look around first? Or are you starving? I don't mind dinner if you'd rather do that."
Her words are a little too fast, tripping along with her nerves and her excitement.

"Hey, I'm always hungry, I'm a growing boy you know," he says, face carefully schooled into an expression of seriousness. He can't keep it up for more than a few seconds and he laughs, shaking his head "I think I'll survive a little longer. Best to work up an appetite anyway, the food here is great" he starts off down the path with a bounce in his step, occasionally glancing back to make sure she's following him.
"You just let me know where you want to look and I'll show you, your wish is my command." he grins over his shoulder at her.

"I've heard there's a pretty fantastic candy store here."
no subject
"Oh, you have discovered my biggest secret," Peter gasps, bringing his hand to his chest in mock affront "It's true, I really will, if I can't get proper food, well, sometimes I just start gnawing on the furniture, I can't help it, I just get ravenous. Maybe I'll take a bite out of you if you're not careful." he grabbed for her jokingly, snapping his teeth with a grin.
"....oh I suppose you can appease me with candy, if you must." he laughed.

Her giggles subsided to a big smile. "I'm very much attached to all my fingers," she wiggled them at him, "so I must insist. Maybe you can find some Twizzlers and pretend."
no subject
"They should have done," he agreed solemnly "It's terribly remiss of them not to stock you up with snacks, they could save your life you know, I'm like the hulk, but.. hungry. Hangry." he chuckled at his own joke.
"Twizzlers sound excellent, I mean, not as tasty as you, but-" he trails off, realising how that sounded and turning slightly red "Oh! Hey! Look, candy store, there's a candy store, the candy store in fact, it's really good, let's go get some candy."

If Peter's goal was to make Ava turn the same color as her hair, he'd definitely done it. She knew he didn't mean it that way, but now that it was out there, she couldn't help but think about it. She tucked her hair behind her ear, glancing over at him enough to know he was a little red as well. "Right. Candy. That's--that's what I was talking about," she mumbled a little. She took a deep breath and looked back up, smiling at Peter. "I have fun when we go do things. Just so you know, and not because S.H.I.E.L.D wants us to hang out."
short post is short, I apologise
"That sounds like an excellent idea. Maybe we should get Bruce a matching one for christmas! You can run fast, right?" he grinned.
"I... I have fun too," he admitted, cheeks still tinged a little pink "Even if SHIELD stopped wanting us to hang out, I'd still want to hang out with you."
pshaw no worries
Ava watched him out of the corner of her eye and her grin grew impossibly wider. She stepped closer, bumping his shoulder with hers then grabbed his hand to tug him into the candy store. "Come on. We'd better get some sugar into you before you start biting the general public."
Re: pshaw no worries
"I think he does," Peter agreed, a little more seriously "I mean, partly because he likes to get on with his work on his own but... mostly I think it's because he doesn't trust himself to be around other people? It's kind of sad..." as much as he made jokes about teasing Bruce, he wouldn't actually follow through on them - he respected the man's scientific abilities far too much for a start, and he was well aware how Bruce felt about the Hulk.
Still, that was too melancholy a thought for today's festivities, so he quickly pushed it aside and allowed himself to be dragged into the candy store, and if he enjoyed the feel of her hand in his just a little too much well, that was his business wasn't it.
"Alright, let's clear this place out!"
no subject
Far too melancholy. She was clearly enjoying the whole hand holding thing as well because she wasn't giving him his hand back, not just yet. Maybe not for a while. She laughed at his declared intention. "What are we starting with? I'm a freak for jelly bellies and chocolate covered espresso beans."
no subject
"You know, that's a great idea," Peter glanced at her, surprised. It was such a sweet thought, and it made him feel a big swell of affection for her, to make such a kind, thoughtful suggestion. "We should totally do that."
"Oh my god he is!? I dunno man, he seems like kind of a dork... I mean, all that red and blue spandex, who does that?" he grinned, though his cheeks were a little pink at the compliment "I mean, he's not as cool as you or anything."
"Well then, that's where we'll start!" he declared cheerfully, dragging her towards the sweets in question. He wanted to show her a good time, so he'd make sure she got everything she wanted.
no subject
Ava couldn't help but laugh at Peter's self-deprication. She shook her head at him as her laugh faded into a smile. "Well, not everyone can be as cool as me," she agreed. "I think he's alright though." Her voice dipped a little in volume so that it was almost a whisper. "Spider-man is awesome and all, but he's got nothing on Peter Parker."
Oh Peter. Honestly, all she needed to have a good time was his company, but she wouldn't say no to candy.
