For an immortal to survive among mortals was, strangely, a tricky and difficult thing. Especially mortals who had long forgotten that such as himself had lived among them, once upon a time. True enough, most of them had left, but some stayed, and now they were nothing more but stuff of the legends, fairy tales that none took seriously. Which was not an issue, in and of itself, and Legolas's appearance was not so difficult at all to disguise into something more... humanly, his hair hid his ears well, after all. It was more difficult to deal with the simple fact that while time passed and folk around him aged, he remained unchanged, and so he moved. Time and again, he would travel and change names and only return to the same place many, many years later, when none would recall him anymore. He did his best to stay out of the public eye as well, though at times it was... difficult too. Beauty, after all, drew the eye, and at times he could not refuse a powerful man an invitation to a reception without drawing even more attention to himself.

This was one of those. He had agreed, he had dressed well and his cover story was impeccable, with all the — forged! — documents supporting him. Thankfully, this was not yet terrible enough that he would need to vanish right after, but it was certainly the first step towards another move sometime in the future. For now he decided not to rush it, because with the influence of the host, it would be far too easy to make a mistake.

Dressed to follow the newest fashions, Legolas still stood out among the guests. Fair of face with his long hair currently twisted into a loose bun at the nape, with the sides freely falling to cover the tips of the ears. He could feel gazes follow him, as he picked up a drink, as he conversed with one person or another — whom he also had caught staring, even as they spoke.

Eventually he drifted towards the balconies for some peace, some quiet, and the fresh air. Above them the stars were barely visible, the lights of the city overshadowing them. This right there was, for an elf, one of the sadder things about the modern world. None looked upon the stars anymore, none could, and none appreciated their beauty. He sighed, then, sensing another's presence, remarked on his observation in a more neutral manner, "A little farther out of the city, and there would be stars to enjoy tonight. A great pity!"

And he turned to face the stranger, his smile easy.

Ava was pretty sure that Tony Stark, SHIELD and the Avengers had introduced her to Peter initially because Coulson, Tony and Natasha had gotten together and had some sort of meeting about how she needed more teenagers in her life. They obviously couldn't turn her loose (because that had gone so well last time), but at some point they'd decided that Peter Parker was a good influence.

Those first few meetings had been awkward, with the both of them stumbling and tripping over each other. It had gotten better though, mostly because, in Ava's opinion, Peter was amazing. They were friends now and she could almost always slip away from SHIELD headquarters if she told them she was meeting Peter. In any case, it was always true.

Today, it's Chinese food in Chinatown, a place that she's never actually been despite having lived the bigger part of her life in New York City, or not far outside of it.

The roommate situation was unintentional at first.

Belphegor had stopped by Leviathan's for the sole purpose of paying him a brief visit, more of a courtesy for a fellow demon and prince of Hell than anything else. It was the sort of thing that kept most of the other princes appeased enough to leave him alone when it came to business from back home. He found that not showing face often enough led to some of the pushier princes seeking him out and that was something to be avoided at all costs.

So, it was just a courtesy call to begin with. A visit to Leviathan was an effort to show he was getting just as much attention as the other princes to avoid any fallout from the misconception that Belphegor might favor any of them more.

It was his own fault for listening to talk of moving in, a concept that had been stuck in Leviathan's head thanks to something he'd seen on television. And it was entirely Leviathan's fault for appealing to the prince most likely to enjoy staying over.

Because the initial talk of roommates went from a couple of nights of crashing on Leviathan's couch to a month of living together in a flash. And it was about a week in that Belphegor went from sleeping on the couch to crawling into Leviathan's bed next to him, burrowing under blankets and sleeping for twelve hours a day.

A month had already gone by like that and another night was looking to go exactly the same as Bel made his way into the bedroom some time after Levi had already crawled into bed. He made no move to check if the other prince was already asleep as he slipped into bed beside him and shifted closer, curling toward the warmth of the other body with a pleased hum.

For another, well, he's very insistent and telling him no just never works. And lastly, he'll go looking for someone else to be bored with him. Today, that person happens to be-

Isabel didn't believe in soul mates. She also didn't believe that her soul mate was an awkward, bumbling, geek boy. She did, apparently, believe in lying to herself though. She'd known from the moment she'd met Stiles her first day at Beacon Hills High that he would be someone special to her. She'd fought it tooth and nail; she'd rebuffed him, been downright bitchy and Stiles hadn't been phased by it, or if he were, she never knew it. He was patient and funny and sweet. Those were all things that Isabel needed because guarded was a word that had been invented for Isabel Culpepper.

Beacon HIlls was just another place that Isabel didn't want to be. After everything that had happened with Jack, her mother had left her father, dragging Isabel with her and moved across the country. If they were going to be in California, Isabel didn't see why they couldn't move back to LA, but her mother had insisted that the small town was better for Isabel. She didn't want to expose her to the dangers of LA. Instead, she'd ended up exposing her to another town full of fucking werewolves. The wolves here were different, and for that Isabel was grateful, but she still imagined the stink of wet dog and wild all over everyone she met.

Everyone except Stiles. In fact, the first time she'd kissed him (against her will, she swears, but she's lying again) she'd muttered against his mouth 'at least it's not another fucking wolf boy'. It was still one of the major things that Stiles had going for him, in her opinion.

Of course, what he had or didn't have going for him depended on how vulnerable Isabel was feeling at the moment. This afternoon, she's good (as good as Isabel gets) which is why she pulls her little, white convertible up next to Stiles' jeep, pulls her sunglasses down on the bridge of her nose so she can peer at him over the top. "Get your ass in the car." Without waiting for an answer, she slides over to the passenger side. "You're driving."
