Holtzmann gave him a bemused smile, taking a moment to try and process what he was saying. Was this another of his attempts to sound smart?

"Yea, Kevin you're making even less sense than usual. Good try though."

That was when Thor gave a very confused look.

"I am afraid you are mistaken," he said, with a great deal of patient that most would not think him capable of. "I am Thor, of Asgard, not this... Kevin, of whom you speak. I seek the help of the Ghostbusters in locating supernatural phenomena."

Her eyes narrowed suspiciously and she stepped up close, inspecting him before spinning back to her workbench. She grabbed a PKE meter and waved it at him, staring at the display and then up at him and back again.

"...Are you possessing Kevin?" she finally asked.

"I do not deal in possession," Thor said firmly. "I do not know who this Kevin is, nor do I wish to at this moment. I am looking for the Ghostbusters, am I in the right place?"

"Yeees..." she said slowly, withdrawing the PKE meter but not looking any less suspicious.

"And how can the ghostbusters help you, Mr Thor who looks suspiciously like Kevin in cosplay."

"My brother, Loki, has made his way to Midgard. He has managed to conceal himself from Heimdall. Without this Sight, it is possible that Loki could cause much chaos." Thor looks serious. "I have hard the reports on what you are able to do concerning the spirits of the deceased. While the energies my brother's magic gives out are not the same, I believe they are not so dissimilar that they could not be tracked via your equipment."

"Loki... and... Thor, wait, wait, I know those names!" Holtzmann stabbed the air triumphantly "Like the gods? You want us to track a god?"

Anybody else might look amazed or awed or even worried by the request, Holtzmann just looked excited.

"Yes," Thor said, glad that this person finally seemed to understand. "I wish you to track my brother Loki, so that I may prevent him from causing destruction in this realm."

"Would his energy be anything like yours, or different?" she asked, already plotting which of her instruments might be of use, if she could use him as a guinea pig so much the better.

"Similar enough for your instruments, I would believe," Thor said. While he had no doubt that the technology in use for the Ghostbusters was among the likes of which the majority of Midgardians would have difficulty with, it would mean that they were antiquated in comparsion with that of Asgard. However, that gave Midgard the advantage: Loki would not think to shield himself from older methods of detection.

Or so Thor was guessing, anyway.

"Well alrighty then, step right up and we'll see if we can't get a reading or two." if she could calibrate some of the equipment to his energy signature, it would be close enough to serve as a tracker for his brother.

"Are we looking for tracing or entrapment, or both?"

[allyofmidgard]

"The plan was tracing, but if you and your comrades wish to join on my mission, I will happily accept the efforts," Thor said, beaming. "My brother is crafty, and often the more there are the better it can be to trap him."

"Ooh, a mission! How exciting." It was a little hard to tell if she was being genuine or not, but she started dancing around her workbench so it was quite possible she was. She grabbed equipment and tools, putting things together and occasionally waving them thoughtfully in Thor's direction, all the while announcing her intentions in a cheerful stream of techno-babble.

"It goes without saying, of course, that it will be dangerous." Thor's voice is serious, level against the cheerfulness coming from the helpful Ghostbuster. He's not meaning to be awful, he just does not want to let anyone decide to come along on the mission uninformed. "There is no shame in thinking that it may be better to work from this base."

"Danger's my middle name," Holtzmann winked, expression mischievous. She's clearly not offended by his warning, but she's also obviously not put off by it either.

"Okay, I think I've got something here if you'd just like to take a look, I've modified our PKE meter so that it picks up your energy signature instead of a ghost's, I've programmed in your signature so it doesn't just go crazy around you, and it's just on the lookout for anything that gives off similar energy. That do the trick?"

Thor gives a slow nod. "That should, as you say, do the trick."

"Excellent," Holtzmann did a happy little fist pump before turning back to the lab in a sudden flurry of activity. A few moments later she was standing opposite him, meter in hand, coat on and bag over her shoulder.

"Okay let's go."

Thor can't help but be impressed with this Midgardian's fortitude, and leads the way out of the building with little problem. Once they are outside, and down the street enough that he reasonably thinks there should not be any interference from spirits in their workplace, he turns to look at the meter.

"And... how does it work, exactly?"

[newtoys]

"Ok, first things first we need to go where you knew he was last, see if we can pick up his energy from there and follow the trail, does that work for you?" it would certainly be a lot easier than wandering the city and waiting for a trail to be picked up, though she'd do that if she had to.

[allyofmidgard]

"He was last in this city. His signature should be different enough that even from here, it would be able to be picked up on." Different enough from Midgardians, of course.

"So he's pretty powerful then?" she asked, she doesn't sound particularly wary, mostly just intrigued. She fiddles with the buttons on the device for a moment, amplifying the signal to pick up the energy signature. The thing pings, antennae beginning to spin.

"Gotcha... just need to narrow in on this trace and then we can follow the yellow brick road."

Thor would have preferred wariness. "Yes, and dangerous with it."

"I can deal with dangerous," Holtzmann winked at him "it's this way," she pointed down the street, following the machine's signal.

"Being to to deal with it is not in question, Thor said, beginning off in the direction gestured to. "But knowing what needs to be done."

"Don't worry, I can follow orders." that was debatable, but when it really mattered she could be sensible. Mostly. Probably. "You do what needs to be done, I'll follow your lead."
