These were the kinds of things she took into account about people, she'd wanted to be a librarian when she was younger, and some of those habits hadn't ever gone away completely.
She nodded when the tour was over, "You know, we could do this, put up some kind of hold-back fence, a 'don't feed the engineer' sign, lead tours. You know people are going to want to see what it is we do when we're not out on the job."
no subject
"Why not feed the engineer though? You trying to say I'm getting fat?" she asked playfully, nudging Patty with her shoulder. It was obvious she wasn't remotely offended, even if she had thought Patty was actually trying to say anything of the sort.

She snorted, "If I thought you were getting fat I'd have said: 'hey Holtz, how about you lay off the dingdongs' or 'are you sure you need a whole hoagie yourself?'" Honestly she'd always been amused at just how much the other woman could pack away and chalked it up to the fact that she never seemed to be sitting still except when she was eating, and not always then.
"But no, have to put the sign up so that A, you don't get punk kids hucking peanuts at you, and B, so that if you bite anybody we can say there was a warning."
no subject
"I always need a whole hoagie to myself," she said seriously, the expression staying for a moment as she nodded to emphasise her point, before she was all smiles again a moment later.
"If any kids tried to throw peanuts at me, I would catch them and the children would hail me as their hero," she added "But, no, you're right, biting is a danger, and we must protect the children," she patted her equipment as she said it, very much giving the impression that the 'children' she was talking about was her gear and not the actual human children.
Sorry about the delay, life has been eating me hard the past couple weeks
Another shrug, shaking her head, "I dunno, maybe if you caught them and juggled them that might work. But I think the rest of us can make sure nobody's chucking anything at you anyway."
that's okay, it happens!
"Oh yea?" Holtzmann smiled, a glint in her eye as she focused on just the one part of the sentence, leaning in towards Patty as her expression turned slightly predatory "Would you still be plenty impressed? I can give you a demonstration if you like. Could probably juggle 'em too."
Typical Holtzmann, really, to derail a conversation with flirting, and most of the time she wasn't serious about it... well, probably not. If anyone was paying attention they might notice she did it more with some people than with others, and sometimes the tone of it was just the tiniest bit different, but to a casual observer it was just her way of doing things.

That list was rapidly dwindling now that she was a ghostbuster, and there were plenty of things she never thought she'd see that were now old hat, the kind of thing she could deal with without even interrupting her morning routine.

The grin widened just slightly at the almost flirtation in return, she was always pleased whenever she got that reaction out of Patty, though she always wanted more.
"Sure I can think of something that you haven't seen before," she replied, voice low, leaving absolutely no doubt just what she was thinking about, and it didn't have anything to do with ghosts. She was watching Patty carefully, like she was waiting for a different reaction to usual, wondering how far she could push before it was too much.

Her brow arched, though the smile was still very much in evidence, "Because I can tell you, since I started working with you people I have seen some shit, and I know I ain't seen everything, but I can't even think of things I haven't seen."
no subject
"Oh really?" Holtzmann answered, eyes glittering with delight "You can't think of anything you haven't seen?"
"Maybe you should come back to my place, I can show you some things." admittedly, this was Holtzmann, so that could easily include bizarre inventions or unexpected science experiments, but her tone of voice and expression made it very clear that wasn't what she meant. Probably.

Both brows lifted at the invitation, and being who she was, and knowing what she knew about the other woman, she asked: "You got some kind of catapult toaster oven you want to show me?"
So sorry for the delay!
"Aw yea," Holtz's eyes lit up at the reminder and she grins delightedly "That was awesome."
"No, that's not what I mean," she winked, "though I did make one of those once, it was glorious... a little violent, had butter on the walls for weeks, but glorious."
No worries, I was on vacation, been catching up on everything
"And shoot, butter's easy to clean up, even off the walls. Fifty-fifty goo gone and water, spray bottle, spritz it on, let it sit for a few minutes, hot water mop and you're done."
Hope you had a good vacation!
"I'm pretty sure it's still around the kitchen somewhere, maybe I'll show you that too," Holtz offers with a grin "but you're cleaning up the butter." As far as she was concerned that was a fair trade, but mostly she just didn't want to clean up the butter herself.
"So. You're coming, right?" she adds, gaze suddenly serious. It wasn't often she invited anybody else into her own space and honestly, all joking aside she was a little bit nervous about what Patty would think of it. Maybe she should clean up some before Patty came over.
I did, and now I'm almost done with the post-vacation crud
And then another easy smile, "And I'll take your word on the catapult, don't actually need to see something like that in action."
