She laughed at that. "I only have to run faster than you," she teased in return. "You know, Bruce is someone I've never actually met. Tony is around a lot along with Natasha and Mr. Coulson. I always just sort of figured he liked to be by himself, you know?"

Ava watched him out of the corner of her eye and her grin grew impossibly wider. She stepped closer, bumping his shoulder with hers then grabbed his hand to tug him into the candy store. "Come on. We'd better get some sugar into you before you start biting the general public."

"I think he does," Peter agreed, a little more seriously "I mean, partly because he likes to get on with his work on his own but... mostly I think it's because he doesn't trust himself to be around other people? It's kind of sad..." as much as he made jokes about teasing Bruce, he wouldn't actually follow through on them - he respected the man's scientific abilities far too much for a start, and he was well aware how Bruce felt about the Hulk.

Still, that was too melancholy a thought for today's festivities, so he quickly pushed it aside and allowed himself to be dragged into the candy store, and if he enjoyed the feel of her hand in his just a little too much well, that was his business wasn't it.

"Alright, let's clear this place out!"

Ava pressed her lips together. It was sad and she'd never thought of it from that angle. She'd spent a good deal of her childhood alone, but not because she didn't trust herself. She took a sharp breath then exhaled. "Maybe we'll have to send him some candy. You know, like a care package." That wouldn't fix anything she knew and it was probably weirder than it was anything. She bumped Peter's shoulder with her own. "You know who I am glad isn't a hermit? Spider-man 'cause I know personally that he's a pretty cool guy. In and out of the suit." She was trying to lighten the mood, and maybe confess a little bit of the crush she had on Peter.

Far too melancholy. She was clearly enjoying the whole hand holding thing as well because she wasn't giving him his hand back, not just yet. Maybe not for a while. She laughed at his declared intention. "What are we starting with? I'm a freak for jelly bellies and chocolate covered espresso beans."

"You know, that's a great idea," Peter glanced at her, surprised. It was such a sweet thought, and it made him feel a big swell of affection for her, to make such a kind, thoughtful suggestion. "We should totally do that."

"Oh my god he is!? I dunno man, he seems like kind of a dork... I mean, all that red and blue spandex, who does that?" he grinned, though his cheeks were a little pink at the compliment "I mean, he's not as cool as you or anything."

"Well then, that's where we'll start!" he declared cheerfully, dragging her towards the sweets in question. He wanted to show her a good time, so he'd make sure she got everything she wanted.

She'd spent a lot of time alone through no will of her own. She knew how much little things could matter. She nodded a little in agreement. They'd pick out some candy for him and have the store ship it to him or something. Maybe it'd make his day a little better or remind him that he wasn't alone.

Ava couldn't help but laugh at Peter's self-deprication. She shook her head at him as her laugh faded into a smile. "Well, not everyone can be as cool as me," she agreed. "I think he's alright though." Her voice dipped a little in volume so that it was almost a whisper. "Spider-man is awesome and all, but he's got nothing on Peter Parker."

Oh Peter. Honestly, all she needed to have a good time was his company, but she wouldn't say no to candy.
