He wonders, then, if they're talking about his place, if they know or suspect what he's done for Yifu, or if it's just because Kevin, at least, knows his connection to Zhao Jing - even if he didn't know the full story - and the 'scare' is down to thinking he, Xie, presented a risk to the escape.
Either way, it's clear that the nature of that complication hasn't been revealed - which he sort of knew, it's not like Kevin has had any chance for private conversation since they left. He wonders how much of their plan is fucked by the reality of his identity. How things are going to change, now.
It's interesting, though, that he isn't explaining anything now, that he's still keeping Xie out of sight, even in the station, where he half expects to get unceremoniously dumped out of Kevin's pocket and hauled into an interrogation room. Instead, the sounds indicate they leave, unbothered, and get into another car. He crawls onto Kevin's hand by way of agreement, waiting to be deposited on the passenger seat. Out of sight... he doesn't intend anybody seeing him here. Is it just a precaution? In case Yifu has eyes here? Or something else...?
