Kevin does deposit him on the passenger seat. He also takes a second to open a bottle of soda that Quil gave him in the station and take a few thirsty gulps before pulling out.
A few minutes driving, they hit a country road and start up to the safe house - Kevin will put the sat nav on later - and finally he starts breathing easily.
