Xie nods - the urge to explain himself still lingers, to try and say the right thing that will make Kevin feel better, but he also knows that it isn't really necessary. He's right, too, when Kevin gets his memories back he won't need to explain it.
It's just difficult right now, when he needs time to process instead of Xie just being able to look after him.
