Kevin makes an uncertain noise. He's not unsettled by scorpions - he thinks - he was surprised. But he's also still annoyed at himself; he knows Xie had been hurt by it and he wishes he could fix that.
He wants to tell Xie that he's sorry this is happening, that he knows this whole thing must be hard, but he's so sure he'll be told that he's got nothing to apologise, that he's the one who needs support, that he doesn't know what to say.
So he's quiet until they get to their place, Lofthouse confirms that he cab arrive adequately, and gives him directions to the lockup, while he unpacks all his notebooks into their living room.
