"It'll go in the tank, should mix with the gas in there and give us the boost we need" he calls back, heading to the gas cap.

He pours the two bottles of fuel into the tank, chucked the empty backpack back into the car and leaned in
"So, who's driving again?"
no subject
"But I guarantee that my reflexes are faster than yours in case of an emergency."
no subject
"I'll do it," he decided, crossing over to the driver's side and climbing in "you ready?"
no subject
No fuss. No fight. But he's watching you, Tony.
"Very ready."
no subject
"Okay, let's do this." almost holding his breath, Tony revved the engine. The answering purr was initially promising, exactly what he wanted to hear. He pressed his foot down on the pedal slowly and the car leapt forward, accelerating rapidly.
The first indication that something was wrong was the faintest whine that started under the noise of the engine, but Tony was enjoying himself too much to notice.

As the noise rose, Tony finally noticed it and his expression creased into a frown, he lifted his foot off the pedal a little and glanced sideways at Clark.
"Does that sound-" he started saying, but he was interrupted by the engine exploding.
no subject
He waits until the worst of it is done before he lets go, tilts back, and starts whooping loudly.
"That was awesome!"

In the sudden rush of activity, Tony wondered if this was his life flashing before his eyes, going at such a speed it was just a blur, only the heat and pain that he was expecting never happens and in only a few minutes it's over and he's by the side of the road with Clark, clothing practically falling off him, above him and it's all a little overwhelming.
"What...what just happened?" he asked, dazed.
no subject
"Car exploded," Clark says matter-of-factly.
"If I had to tell from the smell, you may need to use an injection system for one of the chemicals."
no subject
"Oh...is...did it..." Tony rambled slightly. He blinked at Clark for a moment and then nodded "An injection system, obviously, it was too much at once, it needs to..." he reached for a pencil and then realised he didn't have one, of course he didn't, because he was lying on the ground after being pulled from an exploding car.
"...you saved me..."
no subject
"Well, yeah. Of course I did."
He grinned again.
"What the hell else would I do on a Saturday night without you?"
no subject
"Can't have you getting bored now.." he joked weakly, he was pretty sure he was probably in shock. It was that moment that his brain chose to process the fact that Clark was half-naked above him and well, wow, that and the adrenaline from the explosion kind of got his pulse racing.
no subject
"Now you're talking. Glad you've got your priorities in order."
no subject
Tony blinked at the kiss, it was just so confusingly affectionate.
"I always have my priorities in order. What do we do now?" he meant how did they get home, but as soon as he said it he wondered if he should have phrased it differently.
no subject
"Well, I figured we'd go home, unless you had some better idea."
no subject
"Maybe I'll just... lie here for a bit..." he was still feeling pretty dazed, but he was joking. Mostly.
"How do we even get home?"
no subject
no subject
"Hey, might I remind you that we just nearly blew up? I don't think I'm worrying too much!" he pointed out
no subject
"Oh, come on. You didn't nearly blow up. The car blew up. You don't have a scratch on you."
no subject
"I was very, very close to blowing up, if you hadn't been here, I would have been a goner. Only if you hadn't been here neither would I so really you endangered my life before saving it. You owe me compensation." he says in a faux-serious tone.
no subject
"You wanted to see if it would work as much as I did, once I gave you all the opportunity. And if you'd tested it by yourself, you would have been shit out of luck."
He nudged him with a grin.
"So right back at you."
no subject
"Oh I see, so really you saved my life because you want a reward?" Tony asked, pretending offense. He sighed dramatically, twisting onto his side and propping himself up on his elbow.
"Alright then, what do you want?"
