It's all coming back to me now (Spot and Bucky)

When the Hydra facility had been raided, the last thing anybody expected to find was a 16 year old kid on ice, and yet there he'd been. Steve had been the one to stop the Hydra scientist from shutting down the life support, but they hadn't got there in time to prevent the destruction of a good half the facility's records - including the ones about who the kid was or why he was there.

So what choice did they have but to wake him up and find out?

He was uncooperative at first, refused to give them any details other than the name 'Spot' and kept threatening to fight anybody that came close, though they managed to work out pretty easily that he was from Brooklyn and he'd been on the ice almost as long as Steve had. It's when he overhears a comment about Bucky that he seems to change his tune.

"Bucky Barnes?" he asks, and while he still seems wary, for the first time since he woke up he says something actually helpful "I'll talk to him. Tell him the name's Sean Conlon."

"Oh I was gonna meet Peter before school this morning" he admits, they wouldn't have a whole lot of time to hang out before class but they liked to grab the time they could get, especially since they couldn't hang out that evening - he had been hoping to, but he's willing to sacrifice it for the sake of the tree.

Bucky nods and gives the kid a couple of bucks for a began. "Just make sure you eat." He says easily, "While you're at school I'll be digging stuff out of the attic." He smiles, "And finishing up some work stuff." He ruffles Spot's hair a little. "Steve should be back the time you get home."

Spot offers the traditional cursory grumble and straightens out his hair again, grabbing his backpack and standing up.

"Okay dad. I'll see you after school." he calls as he makes for the door, eager to grab the time he can with Peter - and tell him Steve was safely on his way home, and they were putting the tree up.

They day is making sure all the mission reports are filed and random domestic things are done before Steve gets home. When he does get home it's pulling boxes out of the attic and getting stuff to make some homemade ornaments with Spot... Bucky thinks that the kid his kid is too old, but he still thinks it will be fun for all of them. Well at least Bucky hopes Spot wont think it's stupid.

Steve had picked it out, little metal frames in the shape of Santa Clause, Holly, Bells, and other Christmas and winter themes, that looked like stained glass, with little glass beads you fill them with and pop them in the oven.

They flop down on the sofa and wait for Spot to get home from school.

Spot's home surprisingly early - he normally tends to linger, especially when Peter is free after school as well, but today is a special occasion. Will he admit to wanting to make sure that Steve is home and safe? Probably not. Will he admit to wanting to engage in normal christmas traditions with his family? Definitely not, but he will at least realise he's not fooling anybody and that Bucky and Steve definitely already know that's the case.

"Hey dad, pops," he calls as he shuts the door behind him, kicking off his shoes and dropping his backpack by the stairs.

Steve smiles, it wasn't even a mission just a trip to DC to talk to some people about a vetrians rights bill. But he's freshly showered and sitting on the sofa, watching a movie. He waves at Spot, "Hey Kiddo." He says easily.

Bucky smiles a little he's making tomatoe soup and grilled cheese for him and Steve. "Hey kid, you want one, before we head out to get the tree?" He says the boxes with the decorations already in the living room.

"I thought we was gonna go right out, not eat first..." Spot protests before he can stop himself - it's a dead giveaway how excited he is about this, but he'd like to at least pretend a little bit. Still, if the food is being made anyway, he shrugs and drops onto the couch next to Steve.

"Yea, okay, I'll have one too." he agrees "Thanks dad."

Bucky and Steve both give a little laugh, "Sorry, we were but I was hungry." Steve says shoving Spot's shoulder a little.

"So was I, after digging everything down, how was school?" He asks bringing food over to the coffee table and sitting down on the floor stretching his legs out plate in his lap. "We'll head out as soon as Steve is done." He grins a little.

Spot digs into his own food quickly enough, not wanting to be the one to hold everybody up - and he can claim that actually he was just pretty hungry, right? Not excited like a little kid.

"It was okay," he shrugged in between bites "pretty boring."
