Date: 2016-07-14 09:01 pm (UTC)"No, just curious," he shrugs it off easily. He's glad they're going to somewhere probably deserted, he wasn't entirely sure that Clark would be all that fastidious about dodging pedestrians if they were driving somewhere more populated. Sometimes it was hard to tell, with Clark, just how far his morals stretched.
"It's going to be good. I hope."

He considers that for a moment, like Tony isn't even there.
"Well, you're also pretty, so I might, but I certainly wouldn't drive an hour out for it."

Date: 2016-07-15 11:41 am (UTC)For an immortal to survive among mortals was, strangely, a tricky and difficult thing. Especially mortals who had long forgotten that such as himself had lived among them, once upon a time. True enough, most of them had left, but some stayed, and now they were nothing more but stuff of the legends, fairy tales that none took seriously. Which was not an issue, in and of itself, and Legolas's appearance was not so difficult at all to disguise into something more... humanly, his hair hid his ears well, after all. It was more difficult to deal with the simple fact that while time passed and folk around him aged, he remained unchanged, and so he moved. Time and again, he would travel and change names and only return to the same place many, many years later, when none would recall him anymore. He did his best to stay out of the public eye as well, though at times it was... difficult too. Beauty, after all, drew the eye, and at times he could not refuse a powerful man an invitation to a reception without drawing even more attention to himself.
This was one of those. He had agreed, he had dressed well and his cover story was impeccable, with all the — forged! — documents supporting him. Thankfully, this was not yet terrible enough that he would need to vanish right after, but it was certainly the first step towards another move sometime in the future. For now he decided not to rush it, because with the influence of the host, it would be far too easy to make a mistake.
Dressed to follow the newest fashions, Legolas still stood out among the guests. Fair of face with his long hair currently twisted into a loose bun at the nape, with the sides freely falling to cover the tips of the ears. He could feel gazes follow him, as he picked up a drink, as he conversed with one person or another — whom he also had caught staring, even as they spoke.
Eventually he drifted towards the balconies for some peace, some quiet, and the fresh air. Above them the stars were barely visible, the lights of the city overshadowing them. This right there was, for an elf, one of the sadder things about the modern world. None looked upon the stars anymore, none could, and none appreciated their beauty. He sighed, then, sensing another's presence, remarked on his observation in a more neutral manner, "A little farther out of the city, and there would be stars to enjoy tonight. A great pity!"
And he turned to face the stranger, his smile easy.

Date: 2016-07-15 11:54 am (UTC)Tony's not blushing, really he's not, because that would be incredibly uncool and he was a cool person. He was rich and smart and driving in a fast car with his cool friend. Who thought he was pretty.
"Well I know I'm brilliant," he tried to overcompensate with arrogance "that doesn't mean it's definitely going to work."

Date: 2016-07-15 12:38 pm (UTC)(sounds good to me! I'm pretty easy going too ^^)
Charity balls, dinner parties, drinks, the social calendar for Gotham's elite was a busy one, and there was only so much Dick could avoid as the son of one of the city's wealthiest and well-known businessmen. The life of a socialite was what everybody expected of him, so he occasionally had to bow to those expectations (it was all, Bruce said, part of maintaining a secret identity. Dick privately just suspected Bruce hated them and wanted everybody else to suffer as well), and so here he was. He strolled around the room in his designer suit, sipping champagne and flirting with everybody who looked his way - if he had an image to maintain, he was damn well going to maintain it.
It wasn't the whole reason he was here, however, Bruce had picked up some intel that a certain newcomer to Gotham wasn't all he seemed, and of course they had a tendency to be quite paranoid of newcomers who seemed to have something to hide, ninety percent of the time they were showing up in Gotham to cause trouble for Batman. So he'd been watching the other man out the corner of his eye for most of the night - being subtle about it as usual, but he also noticed that he needn't have been, everybody else was staring as well. It wasn't hard to see why, the man was impeccably dressed and there was something ethereal about him that stood out, like he was turned up just a little brighter than everybody else. It made Dick even more curious about who he really was.
When the tall blonde disappeared out to the balcony, Dick saw his chance to get a little closer. He made his excuses to the pretty young woman trying to hang off his arm, extricated himself from her enthusiastic attempt at an embrace, and made his way out onto the balcony himself. He was surprised when the other man spoke, and for a second he glanced around to see if there was anybody else present, but no, he must have heard Dick coming.
"Gotham's light pollution is pretty bad," he agreed congenially "Bit like it's regular pollution, really."

Date: 2016-07-15 12:41 pm (UTC)"Well, let's just hope if it does blow up we don't have to hitch a ride home again," he laughed. Admittedly they'd probably have more serious things to worry about in the event of an explosion, but he didn't want to think about that.

"Very interesting."

Date: 2016-07-15 03:05 pm (UTC)He nudges him.
"If I didn't have you around to keep me occupied, why... I might just start killing people just to see if it's any fun. I've tried everything else, after all..."
Is he kidding? ...he may not be kidding.

Date: 2016-07-15 03:19 pm (UTC)The thing was, Tony actually believed him - not about the killing part (okay, also about the killing part, worryingly), but there was something so confident about Clark, that the world was going to be the way he wanted it and nothing was going to stop him, that it made Tony actually think Clark could/i> keep him safe, even if the car did explode.
"Well then you better keep your promise. You'd go crazy in prison."

Date: 2016-07-15 03:27 pm (UTC)"It's adorable that you think I'd go to prison."

Date: 2016-07-15 04:25 pm (UTC)"There you go. Exactly. That's what I'm talking about."
He looks over at Tony, looks like he's going to say something, and then shakes his head, clearly giving up on it.
"I was almost tempted to pretend I'd brought you out here to kill you but that's just so laughable, it's not even funny. Far too high profile."
no subject
Date: 2016-07-15 04:37 pm (UTC)"You wouldn't want to kill me, I make your life interesting. Also, I'm pretty." As soon as he says it he doesn't know why he brought it up, it's only going to make him blush more.

Date: 2016-07-15 04:48 pm (UTC)A breath in and out.
"Though you're not wrong. I like you alive. And yes, pretty."
He reaches over a hand and settles it half on Tony's shoulder but also, somewhat, on Tony's throat. Around the side of his neck. Possessive. His, in languid, confident sort of way.

Date: 2016-07-15 05:06 pm (UTC)Just when Tony thought he'd gotten away with keeping his cool after his own words, Clark had to go and say something like that, because there was really no mistaking what he was implying. Tony had always been curious if Clark was interested in him that way, but he'd always shaken off the little hints or implications, assuming them to just be jokes, but that was fairly unequivocal. If he'd been any doubt before, the sudden curl of warm fingers against his neck confirmed the matter quite firmly, and he could feel the colour rising in his cheeks.
"Hey, it's you that might mind the delay, I thought you wanted to see what this stuff could do," he nudged the bag containing the fuel

Date: 2016-07-15 06:48 pm (UTC)"Your heart flutters when I express interest in you. Your skin is warmer, your cheeks are flushed, but only so much as you allow since you're used to controlling that particular reaction, and I'd bet this car itself on the fact that if I offered you the chance to suck me off on the drive there, your hips would shift just at the thought."
He steadies his hand against Tony.
"...you know how to tell people to fuck themselves, Tony. And yet, here we are."

"Maybe it's just been a while," he shot back. Or never.
