When the Hydra facility had been raided, the last thing anybody expected to find was a 16 year old kid on ice, and yet there he'd been. Steve had been the one to stop the Hydra scientist from shutting down the life support, but they hadn't got there in time to prevent the destruction of a good half the facility's records - including the ones about who the kid was or why he was there.
So what choice did they have but to wake him up and find out?
He was uncooperative at first, refused to give them any details other than the name 'Spot' and kept threatening to fight anybody that came close, though they managed to work out pretty easily that he was from Brooklyn and he'd been on the ice almost as long as Steve had. It's when he overhears a comment about Bucky that he seems to change his tune.
"Bucky Barnes?" he asks, and while he still seems wary, for the first time since he woke up he says something actually helpful "I'll talk to him. Tell him the name's Sean Conlon."

Date: 2020-05-12 10:05 pm (UTC)Spot takes a deep breath. He wasn't sure when this moment would come but after seeing his mother and Crutchie he thinks he's ready.
"I think....I think actually I'd like that." he admits
"Cooking something sounds cool." he adds, because actually after the worry of Bucky being away and coming back with his arm broken, and then the guilt of worrying him on top of that, some proper family time actually sounds like a good idea.
He'd never admit it out loud, but he also loved the 'oh we missed this' list, it's like a weird bond between the three of them.

Date: 2020-05-12 10:26 pm (UTC)He grabs cookies, popcorn, and candy on their way to the meat aisle. "You know the skipping school thing is normal, but wanting to hang out with us isn't." He laughs maneuvering the cart one-handed. Getting a few other things they are running low on at the house.

Date: 2020-05-12 10:42 pm (UTC)"All out." Spot decides. He's a growing boy and those two have freakish metabolisms, so the more food the better.
He shrugs at the comment. It feels unfair to his mom to say he didn't really have a whole family experience growing up, but with one thing and another he kind of didn't, but Bucky and Steve feel like what parents are supposed to be. It doesn't hurt that they're some of the only people who understand the whole basically-travelling-in-time thing, and he feels less like he has to pretend to get everything about the modern day with them.
"Nothing about our family is normal." is what he says instead.

Date: 2020-05-12 11:08 pm (UTC)"So when's your next date with Peter, heard something about a halloween dance in a couple of weeks." He's not even hiding the fact he's trying to find out if Spot is going to go with Peter.

Date: 2020-05-12 11:14 pm (UTC)"Yea I'll help." Spot agrees, not wanting to make things more difficult for Bucky.
"Uh.. well we made plans to hang out tomorrow," he admits, and damn is he glad he hasn't been grounded for cutting school "but yea, that dance is... coming up... I want to ask him... but I also wanted to do it in kind of a cool way, you know? I heard that's a thing now..."

Date: 2020-05-12 11:28 pm (UTC)They get home and get the groceries to the kitchen, Steve won't let Bucky put them away, which makes Bucky roll his eyes, "I have one I can still help." He shakes his head kissing Steve.
"You've only been back a few days." Steve shrugs, "Relax, you're cooking tonight anyway." He smirks.
"Gonna have to add Spot to the rotation." Buck smiles.

Date: 2020-05-13 09:33 am (UTC)Spot's happy to help get the groceries put away, but at the suggestion that he gets added to the rotation for cooking he looks up. For a second he looks like he's going to protest, then he stops to consider it and says instead.
"Hey if you wanna come home after a long day to nothin' but burnt toast and eggs 'cos I can't cook anything else, be my guest."

Date: 2020-05-13 05:38 pm (UTC)Bucky tears open the bag of pizza dough to let it rise, and tosses the can of breadstick dough, "read the instructions, and pop that open, tells you how to add garlic and cheese to make the cheesy bread." He smirks, "tells you what temp to put the oven at and everything."

Date: 2020-05-13 06:40 pm (UTC)"You two are some sarcastic assholes, you know that right?" Spot rolls his eyes, catching the can of dough. He's pretty sure they're still going to regret it, but he gets their point. He's just never actually tried to follow a recipe before, he doesn't know how difficult they are.
He leans against the counter to read it, it actually seems fairly straightforward, he can probably manage it.. he hopes. At least if he doesn't, it'll prove his point.

Date: 2020-05-13 11:19 pm (UTC)Spot nods absently, concentrating on following the instructions. As fun as it would be to prove them wrong, he also doesn't actually want to fuck this up, so he's being kind of methodical about it, going step by step until they're ready.
Then he waits and puts them in the oven at the time Bucky said and hopes for the best.

Date: 2020-05-14 07:03 pm (UTC)Spot slumps on the couch texting Peter while he waits for dinner to be ready, though he puts his phone away and wanders through into the kitchen when it's done, in case there's anything else he can do to help.
"Yea?" he asks, looking over at the food "That...that actually doesn't look that bad." he says, surprised.
"Something called Ghostbusters, apparently." he answers

Date: 2020-05-14 07:14 pm (UTC)"It is," Steve nodding, "Which means it should be pretty fun."

Date: 2020-05-14 09:37 pm (UTC)"Sure." Spot nods, grabbing the plates from the cupboard and dishing out the food. Once it's all set out he carries it through to the coffee table and grabs a slice of the pizza before dropping onto the sofa.
"Hey can I have a beer?" he asks innocently. He knows what the answer's going to be, but hey, it's worth a try.

Date: 2020-05-14 11:21 pm (UTC)The movie is fun, silly, and scary at parts, he really likes it, it's all weirdly domestic and he enjoys it. He ends up on the floor leaning against Steve's legs, the blonds fingers carding through his hair.
"What are you and Peter doing tomorrow?" He asks voice easy and relaxed.

Date: 2020-05-15 11:35 pm (UTC)Spot accepts the soda (and related defeat) and settles back to watch the movie.
It's actually a lot of fun and he really enjoys it, it's a nice ending to what ended up being a pretty nice day, except for the horrible guilt trip part of it.
"We didn't really plan anything, he was just gonna come over and hang out in my room." and maybe make out a bit, but he's not going to mention that part in front of his parents.

Date: 2020-05-22 02:34 pm (UTC)"Nah, I was gonna try and get it done before," Spot admits with a sigh - he really can't be bothered with schoolwork right now, but he doesn't want it hanging over his time with Peter. As helpful as Peter could be with some of the subjects he struggled with, he'd rather spend the time with his maybe-almost-boyfriend doing.. not schoolwork.
Of course that meant he actually had to go and get it done.

Date: 2020-05-22 06:06 pm (UTC)"My money's onmoody teenager, he won't graduate if you help him, you left your brains in Germany," Steve says giving Steve a shit-eating grin.
"Says the man who doesn't know what a god damn parachute is." Bucky arches an eyebrow at the blond.

Date: 2020-05-22 08:09 pm (UTC)"...would you two rather I went and did my homework upstairs?" Spot asked with a raised eyebrow, since their playful banter lead to things he did not want to hear from his parents nine times out of ten, and if he's going to get a chance to heed that warning this time he's going to take it.

Date: 2020-05-22 08:19 pm (UTC)"I have some drawings I want to finish anyway, working on something for Clint's birthday." Steve smiles.

Date: 2020-05-23 02:13 am (UTC)"Only when you's get all sappy in fronta me." Spot retorts with a smirk "Which is always, by the way, you two are the worst."
(He actually thinks it's kind of sweet, but he's never going to admit to that out loud)
"I'll stay down here and work, so I can ask you if I need anything?" he suggests, standing up from the couch and stretching, intending to go and grab his schoolbag.
"How come you only do stuff as gifts, pop?" he asks curiously "You should sell your stuff, or have a gallery or something."
no subject
Date: 2020-05-23 02:33 am (UTC)"It's for me." He shrugs, "People would only buy it because Captain America did it." He points out, "and I don't want that. Gallery, that was a hope before the war," He says honestly, "But people would only go see it because it's Captain America." He shrugs and he's right. "What I draw isn't, I get to be Steve when I draw, and I don't want that to change, kid." He smiles settling at the drawing table in the living room and turning on the lamp over it.
Bucky goes over and kisses the top of Steve's head and ruffles his hair a little making Steve laugh. "You're a sap you know that, a very talented sap, Steve Rogers." He says before flopping across the couch and flicking the TV to food network.
